Abby Hexamer, 19, of
Massillon, Ohio was crowned the 2009 Pro
Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival
Queen from a field of 52 contestants. The
2009 Enshrinement Festival Queen Pageant was
held Thursday, May 7, at The Canton Palace
Theatre in downtown Canton. Contestants were
judged on the basis of personality, poise,
beauty, communication skills, academic
achievement and service to community.
Six Court members also were selected,
including Amanda Bortz, 19,
of Uniontown; Jera Dougherty,
19, of Louisville; Bridget Linton,
18, of Uniontown; Chloe Logan,
18, of Canton; Jacqueline Reece,
18, of Doylestown; and Danielle
Vaccani, 22, of Massillon.
Hexamer, the daughter of Ray and Annette
Hexamer, is a graduate of Perry High School
and will soon graduate from Hiram College.
Bortz, the daughter of Denver and Lisa Bortz,
is a graduate of Green High School and
attends John Carroll University. Dougherty,
the daughter of Jerry and Pam Dougherty, is
a graduate of Louisville High School and
will graduate from Walsh University. Linton,
the daughter of Darrell and Kathie Linton,
is a graduate of Green High School. Logan,
the daughter of John and Holly Logan, is a
graduate of Perry High School and will
graduate from Northwestern University.
Reece, the daughter of Ted and Anita Reece,
is a graduate of Chippewa High School and
attends Walsh University. Vaccani, the
daughter of Paul and Laynn Vaccani, is a
graduate of Perry High School and will
graduate from Ohio University.
Kayleigh Kriss, mid-day
personality and FM music director of WHBC
Mix 94.1, and Ron Ponder,
host of Points to Ponder on NewsTalk 1480
WHBC, were masters of ceremonies, and
Tonya Hodgson Stuck,
Enshrinement Festival event manager, was
choreographer. Barbara Hammontree
Bennett, 2009 general chairman of
the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement
Festival's Chamber committees, crowned the
new queen and six court members, and
Bob Hill Quartet provided music
throughout the Pageant.
Judges for the event included Daniel
Fuline, CEO and executive director,
Community Services of Stark County (and 2009
general vice-chairman); Darlene
Schuring, sales/buyer, Gasser Fine
Jewelers; Michelle Siegfried,
owner/operator, McDonald's® Restaurants of
Canton, Siegfried Enterprises, Inc.; and
Betty Smith, executive
director, Multi-Development Services of
Stark County.
The 2009 Queen Pageant received substantial
support from Siegfried Enterprises,
Inc. / McDonald's® Restaurants and
many other generous sponsors including
Abbott Electric, The Coca-Cola
Company, Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Homes,
and Taggarts Ice Cream.
Patti Schott, 2009 Queen
Pageant chairman, and the members of the
Queen Committee will work with Enshrinement
Festival staff to coordinate all activities
relating to the Queen and Court during their
service as goodwill ambassadors and positive
role models throughout the summer.
At the Enshrinees Dinner, the Court will
serve as escorts to the 2009 Class of
Enshrinees or their representatives,
including: Bob Hayes, Randall
McDaniel, Bruce Smith, Derrick Thomas, Ralph
Wilson, Jr., and Rod
Woodson. Further, the Queen and
Court will represent the community at all
Enshrinement Festival activities, happening
from Friday, July 31 through Sunday, Aug. 9
in Canton, Ohio. |
