TIMKEN AND BEDNAR NAMED GENERAL VICE-CHAIRMEN
FOR
2010 PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME ENSHRINEMENT
FESTIVAL
The Canton Regional Chamber of
Commerce and Pro Football Hall of Fame have
named two long-time community volunteers to
leadership positions for the 2010 Pro Football
Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival.
Robert R. Timken, managing
director of Cormony Development, LLC, and
partner in TK Properties, Inc., will serve as
general vice-chairman of the Enshrinement
Festival activities planned by the Enshrinement
Festival department of the Canton Regional
Chamber of Commerce. Jim Bednar,
commercial/industrial realtor with Putman
Properties Inc., will serve as general
vice-chairman of the Enshrinement Festival
activities planned by the Pro Football Hall of
Fame.
Timken is actively involved in
civic life in Canton, Ohio, where
he currently serves on several boards, including
the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, The
Downtown Canton Land Bank, Canton Tomorrow,
Inc., Mercy Medical Center, Canton Country Day
School and ArtsinStark, the County Arts Council,
where he has also served as the chairman of the
Fund for ArtsinStark, the annual arts fund
drive. He is a member of the advisory council
for the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. His
civic involvement has also included
participation on the Canton convention center
feasibility committee, the entity created to
secure land for future development opportunities
in Canton, and the committee engaged in
analyzing the local environment for attraction
and retention of young professionals.
He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in
political science from The College of Wooster
and previously served as congressional aide to
U.S. Representative David Hobson (OH) and as
director of federal government affairs at
McGough & Associates, Inc. He and his wife Sara
reside in Canton have three daughters.
Bednar was born in Canton,
graduated from Perry High School, and continued
his education at Stark Technical College and The
University of Akron in the area of business
administration. He enjoyed a long career with
The Hoover Company, retiring as vice president,
and an officer of the Maytag Corporation. He was
a member of the executive board of the Canton
Regional Chamber of Commerce, and is
past-president of Junior Achievement, Stark
Technical College President's Board, and the
North Canton Chamber of Commerce executive board
and economic development committee. He is a
member of Service Corps of Retired Executives
(SCORE) and North Canton Talk About Potential
(TAP).
Bednar was honored with the North Canton
Outstanding Leadership Award. He has been an
avid Hall of Fame volunteer, serving as
committee assistant-chairman for many years. He
and his wife Chris reside in North Canton and
have two grown sons and four grandchildren.
Enshrinement Festival leadership will work
together with the professional staffs at the
Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce and Pro
Football Hall of Fame, as well as a team of more
than 4,200 dedicated community volunteers, as
they plan and stage the 2010 Enshrinement
Festival, tentatively slated for July 30 through
Aug. 8, 2010. The Pro Football Hall of Fame
Enshrinement Festival features a total of 19
unique and diverse events over a ten-day period,
expected to be enjoyed by nearly 700,000 people.
The central focus and highlight of the
festivities will be the Aug. 7 induction
ceremony for the 2010 Class of Enshrinees, who
will be announced on Feb. 6 during Super Bowl
weekend activities.
